Portugal, 1964. Salazar needs a plan to make People forget about the war in Africa. The solution: a TV contest, to choose the Portuguese Song for the Eurovision Song Contest, showing the country as modern, and not the oldest dictatorship in Europe. All eyes are on the lyrics. The Secret Police appoints Gualdino, a low rank inspector, as the official censor of the festival. The next ten years he will travel a path that will change him as a man, a husband and a believer in Salazar. Each year's song winner tells the tragicomedy of a country in the final breaths of a terrible Regime. The Song Festival will become the stage of the battle for Democracy. At the end, a winner song will be the password for the Carnation Revolution. The winner lyric of '73 had warned: "And the Intelligent claims, that songs are over".
